The eight-year-old son of a Special Emergency Forces soldier who was murdered in Qassim some days ago is psychologically shattered after watching a video clip of the ghastly incident.

Seargent Badar Hamdi Sarikh Al-Rashidi was called to a remote area, allegedly by six of his relatives who are suspected Daesh members, and brutally murdered. The six suspects are at large since then. The soldier’s body was found 11 days ago by the police patrol.

According to local media, the boy, Fares, recently watched the video featuring the death of his father and is shocked since then.

“After watching the video, Fares, who is in the 3rd grade in Buraidah Elementary School, is suffering from a very a bad psychological condition. He was very attached to his father and now refuses to go to school. He is telling his mother that he will go to school only if his father takes him,” the slain soldier’s brother was quoted as saying.

The brother said that Badr joined the army 13 years ago and lived with his wife, two children, mother and a handicapped brother, Saad, in a rented apartment in the Al-Dahiyah neighborhood of Buraidah.

“Saad used to work in the emergency department before he was partially paralyzed following a traffic accident five years ago,” he said.

About the soldier’s murder, he said: “On the afternoon of the day he was murdered, my brother received a phone call from his cousin, Wael Al-Rashidi, who is a doctor at Dalah Hospital, telling him that he was on his way from Riyadh to Qasim and wanted to meet him to give a gift. At 9 pm, he received a WhatsApp message about the location of the meeting but Wael was accompanied by three of his brothers and two other relatives. All of them had planned to execute their heinous crime.”

The slain soldier’s brother appealed to the government to treat his handicapped brother outside the Kingdom and secure a decent shelter for the family members whose financial condition is bad.

A massive hunt has been launched for the six suspected killers of the soldier. The Ministry of Interior has announced a reward of up to SR5 million to anyone providing information leading their arrest.
