After a number of terrorist attacks targeting mosques and innocent worshippers in various parts of the Kingdom, intense security precautions have been put in place for the protection and safety of worshippers.

Sheikh Saleh Al-Luhaidan, a judicial consultant, said that deviant thoughts must be addressed through scientific and psychological means. Security must be used to eliminate the problem at the very beginning and prevent its penetration into Saudi society. He confirmed that Saudi mosques are still safe and that only a few mosques in the Kingdom have security guards as a kind of precautionary measure.

A security consultant, Musaed Al-Otaibi, stressed that terrorism and radical thought were major divergences from the right path of moderate Islam. He explained that vigilance and attention in the circumstances was a necessity.

Al-Otaibi said: “Security men have been deployed in all mosques in Al-Ahsa to provide protection to the worshippers.” He confirmed that Saudi security is on high alert following recent terrorist attacks.

The precautionary measures taken include the provision of parking lots away from mosques, checking all vehicles within a certain distance from the mosque in order to deal promptly with any suspicious activity, placing concrete barriers around the mosque, installing surveillance cameras, and reducing the number of entrances and exits to the mosque.

The citizens of Al-Ahsa have expressed their appreciation for all the services provided by the police, criminal investigation, road security and patrols, along with the actions taken by the security forces to provide security, safety and protection at all mosques.
