Women with specialization in information technology (IT) and related fields are much in demand in the labor market at 27 percent, followed by event management (24 percent) and photography (20 percent). The electrical maintenance demand was the least, at 10 percent.
Badria bint Rashed Al-Zer, head of support and quality control of the girls’ training in the organization, said five programs were introduced in the girls’ colleges after a study of the labor market showed there was demand for them.
She said the study targeted more than 1,000 parties in the public and private sectors at the Kingdom level and identified 13 programs in cooking and cuisine, computer networks, electrical maintenance, e-commerce, photography, activity management, retail and craftsmanship.
Al-Zer said that 88 percent of those targeted were in the private sector, 8 percent government and 4 percent semi-government. She said the private sector was the most targeted.
She said most females find work after their training is completed. In the study, 61 percent of those who participated were in the commerce sector, 24 percent service sector, 6 percent in the industrial sector and 9 percent from other sectors.
