’Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ creates box office history
Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor’s film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ continued to attract the audience on its second day. The film has earned Rs 71.38 crore in total in its two days of release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the figures on Twitter and predicted that the family drama will expectedly cross the 100 crore benchmark on Saturday.
On the second day of the movie, Salman’s Prem has fetched numbers which surpass day one collections of movies like ‘Kick’ and even ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
The Sooraj Barjatya-directed released on Nov. 12, a day after Diwali and saw a drop in collections on Friday by only 23 percent. But post afternoon on Friday, PRDP had more fireworks for the box office.
PRDP closed day one with box office receipts in the region of Rs 40 crores and left behind Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ which released on Diwali 2014, recording the biggest first day in Bollywood history. It also marked the biggest single day of all time, defeating the first Sunday figures of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘PK’ which were about Rs 38.50 crores.
’Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Anupam Kher in key roles.
