Prince Saud touched by leadership’s gesture

Former Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal

Former Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal on Saturday thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his kind words that relieving him of his duties was a tough decision to take.

In a cable to the prince on Friday, King Salman said he acted to relieve him of his duties as foreign minister only after “repeated insistence” by him and was “one of the most difficult and hard matters”.

Prince Saud said: “I am unable to express the deepest sense of thankfulness, gratitude and respect, which filled my heart after receiving the message sent by King Salman. His words, which overwhelmed me, reflect his generosity and nobility, and are more than my humble person deserved, and more than the strain of my work as foreign minister.”

Prince Saud, who is now State Minister, king’s special envoy and adviser and supervisor of foreign affairs, added in his statement that King Salman taught him how to be loyal to the homeland, citizens and to all those who contributed to the nation.

“I will remain a faithful servant to the homeland and my master, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, for honoring me with various tasks, drawing help from Allah Almighty, and seeking guidance from the wise leadership,” he said.

The prince also thanked foreign ministers of friendly countries for their kind statements.

He commended the joint efforts made to build outstanding relations between these countries, and their tireless efforts to find amicable solutions for issues and international crises with the aim of achieving global security, stability, welfare and progress.

“I must extend my sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to all my colleagues at the Foreign Ministry, with whom I lived since the beginning of my work in the ministry until my departure, who strove and have been striving their best in the service and glorification of this country and giving the country the image quite fitting to it,” the prince said.
