Saudi Arabia ‘defended truth’

Decisive Success

Regional governors, ministers and other prominent figures in the Kingdom have congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on the success of Operation Decisive Storm in crushing the Houthi militia in Yemen and defending the Kingdom’s borders from foreign aggression.

“The anti-Houthi operation was a big success,” said Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal in a congratulatory message to King Salman. “The decision taken by the king to launch Operation Decisive Storm had surprised the world and it reflected the Kingdom’s ability and courage to stand for truth,” he said.

The Saudi-led coalition announced late Tuesday that it was ending the military operation in Yemen on request of Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the country’s legitimate president, after the month-long campaign realized its objectives.

The governor also congratulated Crown Prince Muqrin, Deputy Crown Prince and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Defense Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the successful operation that reflected the Kingdom’s military strength and the bravery of its armed forces.

National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah also congratulated King Salman and leaders of the coalition members for the successful operation that neutralized the Houthis. Speaking to reporters after visiting his organization’s main command center in Riyadh, Prince Miteb said the National Guard would continue to coordinate with the Defense and Interior Ministries in all situations. “This coordination will not be limited to Operation Decisive Storm,” he added.

Jazan Gov. Prince Mohammed bin Nasser said the coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope reflects the success of Operation Decisive Storm. “We are proud of this great achievement.” He said the operation was instrumental in creating a suitable atmosphere for Yemen’s overall development.

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh also applauded the Saudi-led coalition’s success. He said Operation Restoring Hope would encourage Yemenis to work together to build their country.

“King Salman launched Operation Decisive Storm not to spill blood of Yemenis but to protect them from Houthi atrocities, restore legitimacy in Yemen and defend Saudi Arabia, the land of the two holy mosques,” the mufti said and urged Yemenis to stand united to build their country.

The 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Muslim World League also welcomed the coalition’s move to halt military operation to shift its focus on relief work and reconstruction.

OIC Secretary-General Iyad Madani urged the Yemenis to respond to King Salman’s call for a reconciliation meeting in Riyadh on the basis of the GCC peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2216. He urged donor countries and OIC member states to support Yemen’s reconstruction program.
