The Shoura Council approved a study on a scheme for martyrs which would help the families of those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.

The house gave the approval to the scheme at the 30th session of council presided over by Council President Abdullah Al-Asheikh on Monday.

The study, which was presented by Shoura member Hamad Al-Fahad, was prepared by the council’s Committee on Security Affairs headed by Saud Al-Subaie.

Assistant Speaker Yahya bin Abdullah Al-Samaan told reporters that the house unanimously approved the proposal since the scheme is designed to look after the rights of the families of martyrs. Under this proposal, the services that should be offered by the state following the death of a martyr are clearly outlined.

Al-Samaan said the house discussed at length the details of Decisive Storm operations and some of its members highly commended the services rendered by soldiers in fighting the Houthis to restore legitimacy in Yemen.

The members also outlined the significant role played by the Kingdom on the initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

The house said that such an action indicates not only the fighting for restoration of legitimacy in Yemen but also the successful formation of the coalition forces which has strengthened the unity among Arab countries and other friendly states helping the Kingdom in the fight against the Houthis.

The house also felt that by fighting the Houthis, the Kingdom, as leader of the Islamic world, has contributed a great deal to maintaining peace and security in the region.
