The government’s newly formed Council of Political and Security Affairs has proposed several measures to fight terrorism and strengthen the Kingdom’s security.

The council’s meeting took place in Riyadh on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, second deputy premier and minister of interior.

“The meeting discussed the latest political and security developments at national, regional and international levels,” said an official statement. The council emphasized the need to use modern technology and research to ensure the security and safety of citizens and residents.

“The council reviewed the proposals to combat terrorism and the efforts being made by Saudi Arabia and its international allies to confront this danger,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, chief of the Royal Court, chaired a meeting of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and discussed a number of strategic reports and plans to boost development in the country.

“The meeting also discussed the work mechanisms of several government departments and the need for integrated operations to improve their services to citizens,” an official statement said.

The council stressed the need for the diversification of revenue sources. “The meeting reviewed international economic developments, the changes in the oil market and ways and means to strengthen the Kingdom’s global economic position,” it added.
