Sickle cell attack kills Saudi student in U.S.
A Saudi student died after suffering a sickle cell crisis in the American state of Louisiana.
He started suffering due the cold weather and slipped into a coma that led to his death in the early hours of Saturday because doctors reportedly could not diagnose his condition.
Hussein Al-Sadiq, one of the victim’s friends, said the 21-year-old student traveled to the United States seven months ago to study at his own expense.
The student and his family all suffer from anemia and several years ago his brother died from the same disease, said Al-Sadiq. The body is scheduled to arrive in the Kingdom within four days.
