Ambassador Rao inaugurates Indian Pavilion at Saudi Agro Food expo
Ambassador of India Hamid Ali Rao inaugurated the Indian Pavilion at the Saudi Agro Food Exhibition at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center with Deputy Chief of Mission Hemant H.Kotalwar.
The four-day event showcased a wide range of raw food and processed food from India, shedding light on India’s export potential in both sectors.
Around 50 Indian companies from Agro Food sector under India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), a premier trade promotion agency of the Government of India and Agriculture and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), participated in the Saudi Agro Food Exhibition including Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Tea Board of India and All India Rice Exporters Association, Premiers Tea Limited-Kolkatta, Sidhi Vinayak Rice Mills-Haryana, Mas Enterprises Limited-Kerala, Shazia -Delhi, Sefen Basmati Rice – Delhi, and A.P. Incubators Pvt Limited – Telangana.
Dr. Tarun Bajaj, general manager (APEDA), introduce the ambassador to Indian stall owners, who told them about their displayed products. He also wrote his comments in Saffron Restaurant’s guest book.
Saudi Minister of Agriculture Dr.Fahad Balghunaim also visited the Indian pavilion. Indian Saffron and Sefen Basmati Rice stall’s Director of International Sales Vivek Agarwal presented the minister with a bouquet.
Indian Basmati rice is popular in Saudi Arabia. It is the third largest export destination for APEDA, an important market for Indian Agro and Food Processing Industries.
The exhibition was attended by a large number of locals and expatriates.
One of the attendees at the exhibition Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin said rice, tea and spices are just few products from India that are on display here. There are ample of Indian products that have high demand here are not on display.
