The light and sound performances kicked off at Abha Park over Al-Sadd lake presented by an international French company specializing in this kind of shows.

The performances will last 40 days, taking the last 10 days of this Hijri month of Shaaban with the rest to be resumed in Shawwal, at a cost of more than SR5 million.

Saleh Qadah, GM, National Tourism Company in Abha, said the events attract more than 4,000 people daily, from inside the park and from the streets of the city.

He added that Abha Park offers entertainment programs that include different games of competitions, juggling, contests for children and dolphin shows with the cooperation of the General Presidency for Youth Welfare in Asir.

All the activities and events start daily after Isha prayers, and continue with the launch of the fireworks from 10.30 p.m. for about 30 minutes.

“The fireworks will begin with projector performances on the banks of Al-Sadd lake via 14 big screens each with a diameter of 10×10 meters. The dimensions will be displayed on an area of 100 square meters and 10 meters of altitude, he explained.

The shows will display photographs of the heritage of Asir and prominent archaeological features of the region, in addition to fountain shows performed on the background of a musical folklore opera titled “Oh My Homeland,” authorized and performed by Saudi lyricist and singer Abdullah Al-Sharif.

He said the altitude of the fountain shows will rise to 80 meters high accompanied by breathtaking performances on the surface of the water on an area of 30 square meters and two big screens each with a diameter of 20×20 meters.

The park attracts more than 1,000 visitors daily, with the number expected to increase during Eid Al-Fitr.
